The Clark Art Institute seeks a dynamic and creative design professional to join its graphics team. This role requires an independent multi-tasker with a great eye and a desire to work and learn in an exceptional environment. Working as a part of a busy communications department, the Junior Graphic Designer has the opportunity to be involved in collaborative projects with curators, scholars, and professional across the Institution in support of the Clark’s mission and programs. The graphic design team holds primary responsibility for ensuring the consistent use and application of the Clark’s brand standards to ensure a strong graphic identity, so attention to detail is critical. One to two years of professional experience is preferred, but we’re open to discovering a super-talented person at any level of experience.
The Junior Graphic Designer works closely with the Clark’s Graphic Designer on a multitude of projects, executing the Clark’s graphics standards for print, display, web, and environmental applications. The Junior Graphic Designer assists with concept development and production work on many Institute projects including marketing, exhibition design, wayfinding, and visitor experience.
Manage the design, production, and printing of a wide variety of graphic materials to meet the Institute’s needs, including work on advertising, promotional materials, invitations, campus signage, education activities, performing arts events, visitor materials, exhibition design, and Clark-branded shop merchandise.
Work with the publications and curatorial departments to produce museum labels and graphics for the permanent collection.
The Junior Graphic Designer has primary responsibility for the design and production of the Clark’s quarterly events calendar, working to ensure that the project is completed according to established deadlines to ensure delivery of the calendar according to the Institute’s schedule.
Regularly shoot new photography/video of the campus, events, exhibitions, and buildings. Edit, categorize, and upload photos to network drives. Produce and edit high-quality video for use in promotional materials and social media.
Work with the graphic designer to maintain consistent use of identity and branding across all materials. Responsible for maintaining and making regular updates to the Clark’s brand guide, which documents the application of the museum’s graphic identity to the full range of print, digital, and environmental materials.
Must be able to multi-task and work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud, especially InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
Experience in photography and video production
Experience with motion graphics and animation strongly preferred
1-2 years related experience preferred
